    Connie A. Spenla, 81, of Murphy, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021, at her residence.
    She was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and had lived in Sarasota, Fla., where she worked 31 years for the Sarasota County Clerk of Courts.
    Connie moved to Murphy in 2009 with her husband. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Murphy and Incarnation Catholic Church in Sarasota, Fla.
    She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Dorothy York Bunker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Kasselmann; a son, Todd Spenla; and a brother, Craig Bunker.
    Surviving are her husband, J. Spenla; two sons, Guy Kasselmann and wife Jennie of Milford, Ohio, and Scott Kasselmann and wife Nancy of Roswell, Ga.; a sister, Barbara Ives of Nokomis, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Crista, Dana and Lisa, Ashley, Collin and Morgan, and Skyler; and five great-grandchildren.
    A memorial mass will be held at noon Tuesday, July 13, at St. William Catholic Church with Father Alex Alaya officiating. The family will gather at Chevelle’s 66 Restaurant in Murphy following the memorial mass.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Connie A. Spenla to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or to Shriner’s Hospital, c/o Greg Allred, P.O. Box 1007, Murphy, NC 28906.
