    Betty Nichols Wood, 91, of Andrews, passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, in a Murphy care facility.
    She was a native and lifetime resident of Andrews and began her career as a telephone operator there.
    Mrs. Wood later worked for Owenby Manufacturing as an inspector for many years.
    She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
    She enjoyed cooking, was a great cook and made the best banana pudding. She loved her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
    She was the daughter of the late Adam and Virigina Wilson Nichols, and wife of the late Lynn G. Wood, who died Aug. 26, 2008. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Bradley and Sandra Jackson; and one brother, Harry Nichols.
    Mrs. Wood is survived by a son, Johnny Wood and wife Debbie of Topton; one brother, Pete Nichols of Andrews; two granddaughters, Rachel Pope and husband Ben of Andrews, and Stephanie Wood of Washington, D.C; and four great-grandchildren, Carly, Emma Grace, Jackson and Ally Pope.
    A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Valleytown Cemetery with the Revs. Ben Pope and Mickey Stewart officiating. Music will be provided by the Smoky Mountain Gospel Singers.
Pallbearers will be Scott Stalcup, Jamie Nichols, Ronnie Jackson, Rolin Phillips, Eddie Wood and Keith Wood.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, is in charge of arrangements.
