    Arnold Seabolt, 80, of Covington, Ga., formerly of Murphy, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and sister.
    He retired from General Motors with 30 years of service.
    He was a member and deacon of Canaan Baptist Church in Covington. He was also a member of the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge No. 87.
    Arnold was born June 1, 1942, to the late John and Icie Seabolt. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin and J.C. Seabolt; and two sisters, Lucille Dockery and Willa Ridenhour.
    He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ellen McDonald Seabolt; daughter, Michelle and husband Robert Bollinger; granddaughters, Ellison and Braeleigh Bollinger; sister, Yvonne and husband Sam Allen, and a sister-in-law, Alma Seabolt. He is also survived by Mitch Hannah and Nic Whitehead, who Arnold considered his “adopted” grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Eddis Dockery officiating. Music was provided by Adam Dockery. Interment was in Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ted Hughes, Keith Martin, Richard Haigler, David McDonald, Jerome Dockery and Nic Whitehead. Honorary pallbearers were Rhuel Hughes, Steve Martin and Jim Totherow.
    The family received friends from 10-10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in memory of Arnold Seabolt be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 164, Murphy, NC 28906.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of arrangements.
