The libraries throughout the region in Cherokee,
Clay and Graham counties will be holding weekly

- Story times for the Murphy Public Library are at 10:30 a.m. Mondays for ages 0-6 and 11 a.m. Mondays for ages 7-12.
- Andrews Public Library story times are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays for ages 0-6 and 11 a.m. Wednesdays for ages 7-12.
Younger children will have 30 minutes of books, songs and fun. Older children will have 45 minutes of books, crafts and games.
Librarian Bridget Wilson said the schedules for all four regional libraries are posted on the individual library’s Facebook page. The story time activities will be held outside on the front lawn of the libraries. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to sit on.
To kick off summer, the library is hosting its second Lego contest of the year. The first contest in March was for National Craft Month, and the library received 16 entries. This month’s contest will have participants building animals or an animal scene at home.
The contest rules are for participants to use Legos, Duplo, Mega Bloks or any other Lego compatible plastic bricks. The entries must be original without the use of kits, books or online ideas. The entries must be no larger than 12-by-12 inches and no higher than 12 inches.
Participants will submit at least two and up to four photos of their entry depicting the different sides and angles. Photos must be submitted before 10 p.m. Tuesday to Wilson’s email at brwysl20@gmail.com or bwilson@nantahalalibrary.org.
Participants need to complete the entry with their name, age category, library branch and phone number. The entry should also include photos attached to the email, title of entry and a description of the entry.
All ages can participate in the contest including adults. There will be four winners chosen for each library in the region.
Each libraries staff will vote for winners and photos of the entries will be posted on the library’s Facebook page. Winners will be announced on Facebook on Tuesday, June 29.
