WEB EXCLUSIVE: Murphy's Wood commits to Western Carolina for track

Murphy senior Peyton Wood committed to run both cross-country and track for Western Carolina on Thursday.
“It feels amazing,” Wood said. “I never dreamed this is where I would be by my senior year.”
Wood is the top Murphy High School girls runner for the Lady Bulldogs cross-country team and looks to make quite the impact in her senior campaign for the track squad, as well. She weighed offers from Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC-Asheville before settling on running for the Catamounts.
“I chose Western because it was close to home and the campus is beautiful,” Wood said. “They have an amazing track program.”
