ACC teams looking at Murphy sophomore Mugharbil
Murphy – To say it has been an exciting week for Yousef Mugharbil would be an understatement.
The 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive tackle has captured the attention of three ACC schools, with athletic scholarship offers rolling in from Duke, UNC and N.C. State within the last week.
“It feels really good,” Mugharbil said. “I wasn’t expecting this. I’m really excited.”
The whirlwind week started with Mugharbil receiving a full athletic scholarship offer from Duke on Feb. 19. UNC threw its name in the hat on Friday, before N.C. State made their intentions known on Saturday.
Mugharbil has two years left to make a splash for the Murphy Bulldogs. He will be one of the faces of a feared offensive line that helped lead the team to a 13-win season and another 1A state championship. Late in the season, he also took over kickoff duties for the Dogs.
Mugharbil is not the first Bulldogs lineman to get a look from an Atlantic Coast Conference school this year, as 6-foot-3, 250-pound, two-way threat Hunter Shope committed to UNC on Feb. 4.
