Thomas Frank Brooks, 70, of Hiawassee, Ga., and formerly of Andrews, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, in a Chattanooga, Tenn., hospital.
He was a native of Cherokee County, but lived most of his life in Shreveport, La., before moving to Hiawassee, Ga., 12 years ago.
He was a 1964 graduate of Andrews High School, where he was a star basketball player, and his team is in the Andrews High School Hall of Fame.
He worked as a pharmacist for 34 years. He was a member of Andrews First Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Jeff and Cordie Ledford Brooks. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Brooks West, and a brother, J.V. Brooks.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Mix Brooks; a daughter, Adrianne Parker and husband Deryck of Goldsboro; a son, Pastor Chris Brooks and wife Ashley of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Divola Brooks Frye and Alma Brooks Gray, both of Andrews; two brothers, Wade Brooks and wife Judy, and Floyd Ray “Chub” Brooks and wife June, all of Andrews; four grandchildren, Gracie and Paxton Parker, and C.J. and Maggie Brooks.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, in Andrews First Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Bobo and Pastor Chris Brooks officiating. Interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Allen, Eddie Adams, Mike Sheidy, John Gernert, Butch Sursavage and Randall Stanley. Honorary pallbearers were Andrews 1964 classmates.
The family received friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the church prior to the service.
