Stephen Barker Hemstreet, 89, of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Murphy Medical Center.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Marcus and Catherine Hemstreet.
Stephen was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a marketing representative for U.S. Gypsum O’Brien Homes.
Stephen enjoyed boating, golfing, afternoon gin martinis, drawing and painting.
He was a member of Episcopal Church of the Messiah in Murphy.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Eliza Parsons; two daughters, Pamela Rosenkrans of Chester, Va., and Holly Kaleniecki of Murphy; one sister, Bonnie Bertino of Waterloo, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
The family received friends at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the parish hall of Episcopal Church of the Messiah. The service followed at 11:30 a.m. in Episcopal Church of the Messiah.
