    Roger T. Williams quietly passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at age 67 at the McGraw Hospice Center, Mayo Clinic, in Jacksonville, Fla.
    Roger was born Aug. 31, 1951, to David L. and Helen M. Williams and grew up in New York City.
    He served three years in the U.S. Army, spending the majority of his tour as sergeant at headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany.
    He moved to Miami, Fla., in 1971 to begin a 34-year career with Bellsouth (AT&T).He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University.
    He enjoyed being with family and friends, and traveling extensively. After retiring from Bellsouth, Roger moved to Murphy in his beloved Appalachian mountains.    
    Roger is survived by his two children, Troy and Danielle; two grandchildren, Abri and Brandon; brother David Williams; long time companion James Moore; and his friend of 52 years, Jeanne.
    A memorial service will be held in the Murphy area in the near future.
    In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger’s honor are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association research programs of your choice.
