Robert "Bobby" Kent
Robert “Bobby” Jonathan Kent, 69, of Blairsville, Ga., passed away Saturday Nov. 17, 2018, at his residence.
Bobby was the son of the late Horace Kent and Euverla Kent of Murphy.
Before his career with Rolm-IBM, Bobby spent the 1970s as a land surveyor and liked to use his scope to look at the night sky. He enjoyed CB radios, Western movies, nature shows and shooting pool. Bobby liked Labrador retrievers, occasionally tolerated cats and once had a pet ferret.
He taught his son how to throw a curveball, for which he is eternally grateful, and put up a basketball goal for him on the same day he ended up in the hospital with a kidney stone.
Bobby liked Marty Robbins, played a few chords on the guitar and could whistle really loud. He liked Texas but not California, loved the mountains and being on the water. Bobby read the Bible and Louis L’amour.
He was one of a kind.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Kent.
He is survived by his mother, Euverla Kent of Murphy; son, Scott Kent and wife Jana; grandchildren, Jack and Emily Kent; sisters, Brenda Palmer of Murphy and Janet Hollifield and husband Ron of Flat Rock; and brothers, Tony Kent and wife Kathy of Peachtree, and Tommy Joe Kent and wife Jackie of Meadows of Dan, Va.
