Ray Robert Griggs, 83, of Marble, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2018.
Ray was born in Cherokee County to the late Earnest Griggs and Beulah Garrett Griggs. He retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation as a truck driver. Ray enjoyed the Wagon Train. He loved to fish and hunt. Ray was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by four sisters; Melba Jordan, Mary Lou Stanley, Shirley Griggs and Linda Griggs.
Ray is survived by his three sisters, Brenda Stiles, Gereldine Griggs and Gertrude Griggs; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in the Townson-Rose chapel in Andrews. Pastor Harold Stiles and the Rev. Jerry Tatham officiated. Burial was at Moss Cemetery in Marble. Pallbearers were Adam Powell, Aaron Powell, Kyle Cunningham, Stevie Pendergrass, Glen Stanley, Gary Stanley, Ryan Cunningham and Bruce Luther.
The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Townson-Rose chapel in Andrews.
