Peggy Jo Golden, 76, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at home.
She was born on Friday, May 19, 1939, in McCaysville, Ga., to the late Hoyle C. and Monnie S. Godfrey Rutherford.
Mrs. Golden graduated from West Fannin in 1957. She had worked for King’s Leathercraft, was a homemaker, enjoyed reading and was an avid tennis fan. She loved to garden and raise roses. She was a faithful and loving Army wife.
Survivors are her husband of 54 years, John L. Golden of Murphy; sons, Mitchell Golden (Sheila) and Mark Golden; daughter, Mona Golden, all of Murphy; grandchildren, Bryan, Tori, Megan, Bradey and Connor Golden, and Brittney Norton (Josh); great-grandchild, Reed Norton; canine friend, Barney of the home; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Crisp officiating. Music was by the Golden Sisters. Pallbearers were Scott Ray, Kelly Ray, Josh Norton and Aaron Warren. Interment followed in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy.
