Patricia Ann Probst, 75, of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, in a Buncombe County care center. She died of cancer.
Pat was born and spent her early years in Green Bay, Wis. Her father worked in the paper industry. She also lived in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Florida.
After Pat’s parents, Richard Probst and Lucille Wichmann Probst passed away in Florida, Pat moved to Murphy in 2005, where she found a wonderful home in the mountains, outside of town. This had always been a long sought after dream of Pat’s, to live in the mountains.
Pat loved horses, was an avid photographer, and her career centered around an artistic expression of her love of nature and the outdoors. She won several awards for her beautiful pottery and porcelain work.
She also enjoyed working in her home’s extensive garden, accompanied by her much loved dogs, Scooter and CiCi.
She is survived by three first cousins, Ann Wichmann from Otis, Colo., Buzz Wichmann from Murrysville, Pa., and Randy Wichmann from Mercer Island, Wash., along with her step aunt, Mina Belle Packer Wichmann
from Pittsburgh, Pa. Also surviving are the two children of Buzz, Brian and Kate; and the four children of Randy, Peter, Alexandra, John and Shannon.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 11, in Calvary Chapel Mountainside, 5718 U.S. 64 W. in Ranger, with Pastor Brian Saraney officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Patricia Ann Probst to Calvary Chapel Mountainside Building Fund, 5718 U.S. 64 W., Murphy, NC 28906, a Spirit-filled church, where Pat was surrounded by many dear and caring friends.
