Oma Mae Ledford Elrod, 95, of Murphy, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at her residence.
She was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County.
Oma enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers and making quilts, which she lovingly gave away. She was of the Baptist faith.
Oma loved her entire family but especially her grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late James Vener and Venora Lee Beaver Ledford, and wife of the late Thomas David Elrod, who died May 12, 1974. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Brown; three sons, Tom, Kenneth and Dan Elrod; and two sisters and five brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Elrod and Wanda Kephart and husband Joe, all of Murphy; two sons, Charles Elrod and wife Shelia of Murphy and Paul Elrod and wife Diane of Holly Springs, Ga.; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Eddie Trentham officiating. The interment will be in Elrod Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David, Nick, Jamey and Doug Elrod, Randy Brown and Matthew Allen.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
