Minnice Christine Dockery, 81, of Hayesville, formerly of Murphy, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at the Clay County Care Center.
She was a native of Cherokee County, and the daughter of the late John and Bessie Whitener Montgomery.
She was a member of Unaka Baptist Church. Minnice had been a seamstress in the textile industry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Dockery; two brothers, Andrew Montgomery and Charles Montgomery; and her sister, Virginia Dockery.
She is survived by her children, Angie Whitener and her husband, Calvin, of Murphy; Frances Davis and her husband, Larry, of Murphy, and Irene Stewart and her husband, Kenny, of Blue Ridge, Ga.; her companion of 28 years, Arthur Moss of Hayesville; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Billy Rhodes officiated. Burial was in Ogreeta Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Edwards, Scott Scroggs, David Dockery, George Dockery, John Crisp and Dustin Davis.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
