Mary Thompson, 77, of Cleveland, Tenn., and formerly of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, in Cleveland.
She was born in Union County, Ga., to the late William and Bessie Mae Shelton.
Mary was owner and operator of Tri-State Lighting and Electrical Supply Co. with her late husband, Bobby Thompson. She enjoyed golfing, her dogs and shopping. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Thompson; and sisters, Marie Brinkerhoff, Dorene Hodges and Annie Shelton.
She is survived by her son, Danny Thompson and wife Alina; two daughters, Kathy Skomp and husband Mark of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Kelly Gentry and husband David of Murphy; brothers, Billy Shelton and Ray Shelton and wife Joyce, who was a special friend to Mary; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Revs. Aud Brown and Al Beck officiated. Eulogies were given by Kathy Skomp and David Gentry. Burial was held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Ryan Pipes, David Gentry, Mark Skomp, Davis Gentry, Wayne Watson and Ronald Ledford.
The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
