Marvin Hall, 78, of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, in Buncombe County. He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, and the son of the late Ralph and Edith Lovingood Hall. Marvin was a self-employed heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed bear hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Mae Hall; and brother, Carl (June) Carroll. He is survived by his wife, Mabel Worley Hall; sons, Terry Hall and Tony Hall and wife Gail, all of Murphy; brothers,Robert Hall, Billy Hall and Dean Hall; sister, Helen Dockery; five grandchildren, Joseph, Jordan, Kayla, Kyle and John; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Grape Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve West officiated. Music was provided by Steve Coleman. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Hall, Jordan Hall, Kyle Hall, John Hall, Grey Reid and Nathan Sneed. Honorary pallbearers were Chris McCledon and Jason Carroll.
