Marie Allen

    Vina Marie Allen, 92, of Marble, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at her home in Knoxville, Tenn.
    Marie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Marie had a beaming personality, piercing blue eyes and a smile that could light up a room. Everyone who knew Marie loved and adored her from the moment they met.
    She was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Pearlie White and Elizabeth Gaddis White.
    She was a loving wife of 71 years to the late Sidney James Allen. She was a longstanding member of McClelland Cove Baptist Church in Andrews.
    Marie worked at Owenby Manufacturing in Andrews for 35 years.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sons, Jackie James Allen, Robert Junior Allen, Gary Lee Allen and Paul Rex Allen; and a grandchild, Robin Elizabeth Allen Williams.
    Mrs. Allen leaves behind her daughter, Linda Allen Tatham of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons, Larry Bruce Allen and wife Angela of Murphy, and Billy Ray Allen and wife Vickie of Hayesville. Marie, better known as Ninny, leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, Benton Gibby, Lawton Gibby and McCoy Allen; and many nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. The Revs. Ronald Patterson and Steve West officiated. Burial was in Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews. Pallbearers were great-grandsons, Jason Allen, Collin Williams, Blake Allen, Brad Belec, Scott Gibby, Patrick Allen, Ben Tatham and Beau Tatham. Honorary pallbearers were John Allen, Tristin, Colt and Caleb Allen, Connor Wright, Dru Fleming, Jacob and Zaylen Allen, and Hunter Burrell.
    The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.
