Lynell Taylor, 67, of Dalton, Ga., and formerly of Murphy, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, in Dalton, Ga.
He was a native of Cherokee County, and the son of the late Henry Fair and Verna Jones Taylor.
Lynell had worked in the carpet mills as a shearing machine operator. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Lynell was an avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Taylor and Bobby Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Dockery Taylor; two daughters, Amelia Taylor and Olivia Taylor; two brothers, Dean Taylor and his wife, Annette, and Newell Taylor and his wife, Oleada; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Freddy Maney officiated. Burial was in Swanson Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the VFW Post No. 10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post No. 96, DAV Chapter No. 73, American Legion Post No. 532 of Hayesville and VFW Post No. 6812. Pallbearers were Trevis Mason, Brandon Hughes, Matthew Hughes, Michael White, Donnie Payne and Curtis Taylor.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
