Lola Jewell Rogers, 94, of Brasstown, passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.
She was a native of Clay County, and daughter of the late Thomas Elmer and Bulah Roxie Byers Sales.
Jewell had worked at John C. Campbell Folk School. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Jewell was a member of Little Brasstown Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Rogers; and brother, Burton Sales.
She is survived by her son, Billy Rogers of Brasstown; one grandchild, Kellie Rogers-Gibby; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Rogers and Kenyon Rogers; two sisters, Christine Crisp and Sue Hedden; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Aud Brown officiated. Music was provided by Susie Graham. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan, 4, at Hickory Stand United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Hedden, Terry Hedden, Joey Hedden, Terry Moore, Joe Gibby and Bob Byers.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
