Lawson Johnson, 74, of Andrews, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, in an Andrews care facility.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County.
Lawson enjoyed fishing, watching western movies, guitars, music and singing.
He was a member of Cullowhee Baptist Church in Cullowhee, and attended Hiawassee Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Ray and Alice Allen Johnson. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Johnson and Marva Matoy; and two brothers, Sidney and Walter Johnson.
Surviving are three sisters, Olah Gilreath of Murphy, Opal McHan of Howell, Mich., and Evelyn J. Morrow and husband Ron of Poquoson, Va.; a brother, Bill Johnson and wife Pam of Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Hiawassee Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Eddis Dockery officiating. Pallbearers were Curtis Gilreath, Chris Johnson, Kasey and Caden LeFevers, Danny Woody and Sam Davis. James Johnson served as honorary pallbearer.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
