Jeff Cappello, 56, of Murphy, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, in a Chattanooga, Tenn., care facility.
He was a native of Staten Island, N.Y., and had lived in Manahawkin, N.J., before moving to Fort Myers, Fla. In 2010, Jeff moved to Murphy, the town he loved the most.
He enjoyed carpentry and built their family home. Jeff was an avid NASCAR fan and boater. He purchased his first boat at age 18 and later became a dockmaster in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Cappello.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Cindi Cappello of Murphy; his father, Emanuel Cappello and stepmother Dona of Little Egg Harbor, N.J.; a sister, Roseann Volpi and husband Joe of Howell, N.J.; two brothers, George Cappello of Goldsboro and Manny Cappello and wife Michelle of Fort Pierce, Fla.; 13 nieces and nephews; and six great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dogs Festus, Andy and Luna.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Brother’s Restaurant in Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Jeff Cappello to the Valley River Humane Society, P.O. Box 658, Murphy, NC 28906.
