Jean Phillips, 78, of Taylors Creek Road in Andrews, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Clay County, the daughter of the late Verlin and Hazel Henson Hall.
Jean was a member of Valley River Baptist Church, where she was the secretary and treasurer for 35 years. She loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with her many loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Phillips, of 57 years in 2016.
Surviving Mrs. Phillips are two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Cherry Phillips of Andrews, and Gary and Delynn Phillips of Adairsville, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Allen Kirby of Andrews; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Pat Hall Piedmont, S.C.; John and Debbie Hall of Manning, S.C.; Jerry and Linda Hall of Sylva; five grandchildren, Curtis and Misty Phillips, Chris and Lisa Adams, Brittany and Daniel Smith, Mashala Phillips and Dylan Phillips; seven step grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Valley River Baptist Church. Visitation was from 4 p.m. until time for the service. Close friends and nephews served as pallbearers.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
