    Jason David Dockery, 31, of Blairsville, Ga., passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at his residence.
    Jason was a native of Cherokee County. He played football for Murphy High School from where he graduated in 2002. Jason had worked in construction and loved being outdoors.
    Jason was preceded in death by his father, Michael Douglas Dockery; his paternal grandfather, David Dockery; and maternal grandfather, Elbert Hughes.
    Jason is survived by his mother, Judy Lynn Hughes Jackson of Blairsville; two brothers, Johnny Raxter of Murphy and Joe and Elizabeth Raxter and their daughter, Abigail, of Lockhart, Texas; and a sister, Cassady Hatchett. Also surviving is his maternal grandmother, Geraldine Hughes of Murphy and paternal grandmother, Mildred Mason of Hayesville.
    A Celebration of Life was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7,
at Murphy Bible Church. Pastor Ben Adams officiated. Burial was held Monday, Feb. 8, in Notla Church cemetery. Pallbearers were John Raxter, Joe Raxter, Damon Herron, Anthony Wilson, Steven Conard and Richie McCoy.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family with expenses c/o Murphy Bible Church, 171 Smith Hollow, Murphy, NC 28906.
