Herman C. Ford, 80, of Young Harris, Ga., passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, in Union General Hospital surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.
Herman was born Aug. 13,1938, in Swannanoa. He was the son of the late Wayne C. Ford and Eunia M. Ford. Herman was raised in Warne and lived there for many years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving more than 20 years for his country.
Herman loved collecting guns, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved animals and had many throughout his life. He worked hard all of his life and enjoyed traveling.
Herman attended Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and Unity Church of the Mountains.
Herman is survived by his loving wife, Brigitte Taylor; two sisters, Dot Roberts of Acworth, Ga., and Ann King (Cecil King) of Warne; two sons, Kent Ford of Murphy, and Tony Ford (Lacie Ford) of Hiawassee, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Angie Deaton of Tennessee and Catherine Taylor of Atlanta, Ga.; and his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Herman was predeceased by his daughter, Tina Garrett.
Herman never met a stranger and made a lot of friends in his life. He will be missed by all for his inspiration for life and his kindness to others.
