Harold Eugene Norton, 82, of Hayesville, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Valley View Care Center in Andrews.
He was born in Jackson County to the late Frank and Wilma Smith Norton.
Harold was a U.S. veteran. He served in the Marine Corp in Korea.
After retiring from the N.C. Wildlife in Clay County as a game warden. He continued to serve in firefighting until age 75.
Harold spent his entire life serving others. He was a member of Truett Memorial Baptist Church in Hayesville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Norton.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol Kilpatrick and husband Dwayne of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Donna Plemmons and husband Jeff of Murphy; two brothers, Eddie Norton and wife Marion of Sylva, and Ray Faircloth and wife Debbie; one sister, Virginia Grady and her husband, Jim; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 1, at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Chris Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, in Fairview Memorial Park in Sylva.
The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. Friday, July 1, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
