Grace Elizabeth Truett, 94, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, a daughter to the late Rickmon and Dora Gladson.
Grace spent several years in Detroit, Mich., before returning to Murphy in 1976.
She was an active member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting and sewing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Byers Truett; son, Thomas Rickey Truett; brother, Alvin Gladson; and grandson, Timothy Stewart.
She is survived by three daughters, Bernice Stewart, Barbara Ruth Stewart-Kuykendall and husband Ralph of Murphy, and Martha Lance and husband Jerry of Adrian, Mich.; one son, Kenneth Truett of Melvindale, Mich.; seven grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 15 step great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Murphy. Pastor Gerald Derreberry officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith Truett, Mark Kowalcik, Daniel Motsinger, Gray Motsinger, Joben Truett and Robert Stewart Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Tracy Stewart, Cherokee Motsinger, Lauren Truett, Ryvers Stewart, Ryleigh Stewart and Grayson Motsinger.
The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Murphy.
