Coy Athaline Timpson Killian, 95, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Valley View Care Center in Andrews.
Coy was a gentle person and the “Fruits of the Spirit” describe her well – Love, Joy, Peace, Long-Suffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Self-Control.
Coy was a native of Cherokee County and a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. She was the daughter of the late James Absolum and Mary Emma Hogsed Timpson.
She was a homemaker.
Coy was a member of Hiawassee Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Killian; son, Rex Killian; daughter, Lavean Killian; infant daughter, Glenda Sue Killian; granddaughter, Beth Taylor; grandson, Marty Anderson; son-in-law, Jerry Anderson; and daughters-in-law, Dianne Killian and Kris Killian.
Coy was matriarch to five generations of 76 descendants. She is survived by six of her nine children: three sons, Steve Killian, Ted Killian and Jeff Killian; and three daughters, Ruth Anderson, Nita Ellis and Joan Taylor; 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home. Pastor of Hiawassee Baptist, Jim Beasley, officiated.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hiawassee Baptist Church, 95 Bates Creek Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
