Charles J. “Sonny” Curtis, 75, of Marietta, Ga., passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Marietta, with the Revs. Lamar Clarke and Tom Ward officiating. Interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
Born in Murphy, Mr. Curtis lived most of his life in Cobb County, Ga. He retired from the Carpenter’s Local 225 after 18 years of employment, then went on to work for the Cobb County Board of Education for 20 years.
He was a deacon and member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Willa and Carl “Bud” Ledford, and sisters, Sherry and Barbara Ledford.
Survivors include his spouse of 54 years, Judy Bandy Curtis; two children, Stacey (Clay) Brown of Marietta, Ga., Eric (Keesha) Curtis of Murphy; sister, Betty Pritchard, Hayesville; five grandchildren, Hunter Brown, Paxton Brown, Alex Curtis, Taylor Enriques and Jake Enriques.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Must Ministries or the Kidney Foundation.
