Carrie Belle Nelson, 99, of Royston, Ga., and formerly of Hayesville, died Sunday, June 26, 2016, in a Lavonia, Ga., hospital.
She was a native of Clay County, but had been living in Royston since 2012. She worked for Moss Memorial Library and was a member of Chatuge Hills Assembly of God Church.
She was the daughter of the late J.V. and Sarah Emma Sellers Moore, and wife of the late Thurman Francis Nelson, who died Sept. 26, 2004. She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Ayers.
Surviving are three daughters, Janet Eller and Penny McClure, both of Murphy, and Abigail Hammond of Royston, Ga.; three sons, R.L. Nelson and Roald Nelson, both of Hayesville, and John O. Nelson of Royston, Ga.; a sister, Blanche Hogsed of Hiawassee, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville, with the Revs. Aline Mosteller and Rob Sizemore officiating. The interment was in Union Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Austin Floyd, Thurman Eller, Hunter Rice, Brandon Chastain, and Kolton and Rhyan Arrowood.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.
