Boyd A. Rogers, 90, of Andrews, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018, at his residence.
Boyd was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County.
He had worked with Southern Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1989.
Boyd was a member of Andrews First Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Joseph Arch and Bertha Gray West Rogers. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Rogers Best and Stella Rogers Tatham; and a brother, Paul W. Rogers.
Surviving are his wife of more than 70 years, Billie Mulkey Rogers; a son, Boyd Alan Rogers and wife Linda B. of Greensboro; a brother, Harold R. Rogers and wife Eulane of Cary; a grandson, Timothy Joseph Rogers; a step-grandson, Matthew J. Lauver; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, with the Rev. Chuck Davis officiating. The interment will be in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Tatham, Jim Mulkey, Jim and Jeff Johnson, Whitney Hines, and Barney and Tim Rogers.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, prior to the services.
