School open house schedule set

    Before the public school year begins Monday, Aug. 27, most area schools allow students and parents to stop by the campus for a special event to meet their teachers.
    While most schools will be welcoming families next week, both Murphy Middle School and The Learning Center charter school have events this week. Andrews High School had its Freshman Move-Up Night and New Student Orientation on Monday, while Murphy Middle had its first of three Open House events Tuesday night with sixth-grade students.

Thursday, Aug. 16
    The Learning Center will hold its Parent Fair from 1:30-6 p.m. In addition to learning more about the school and its programs, parents also may purchase dress code shirts, order yearbooks and make payments on upcoming class trips. The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 20.
    Murphy Middle School will hold its Open House for seventh grade from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 20
    Murphy Middle School will hold its Open House for eighth grade from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 21
    Murphy High School will hold its Open House from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
    Andrews Middle School will have its fifth-grade Parent Move-Up Night from 6-7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 23
    Andrews Elementary School will hold its Meet the Teacher Night from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
    Andrews Middle School will hold its Open House for all grades from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
    Hiwassee Dam Elementary/Middle School will hold its Meet Your Teacher Night from 6-8 p.m.
    Martins Creek Elementary/Middle School will hold its Open House from 6-8 p.m.
    Murphy Elementary School will hold its Meet the Teacher from 5-7 p.m.
    Oaks Academy will hold its Open House from 5-7 p.m.
    Peachtree Elementary School will hold its pre-K and kindergarten drop-in from 4-6 p.m. The school plans to have its open house for all grades Thursday, Sept. 13.
    Ranger Elementary/Middle School will have its Open House from 6-8 p.m.
    Tri-County Early College High School will hold its Potluck BBQ Picnic from 5:30-7 p.m. Families are invited to bring a side dish, dessert or drink to the event where they’ll meet teachers and tour the new space. Classes started at the school Wednesday.
