WEB EXCLUSIVE: Two killed in traffic accidents

Two locals have died in traffic accidents this month.
On Monday afternoon, an accident with heavy equipment while workers were paving Mooreland Heights Street in Murphy caused the death of a local man. He was one of the employees of the contracting company doing the road work.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Murphy Police had not released his name, as family members had not been notified.
A woman struck by a car after running into traffic on Aug. 5 also has passed away after initially surviving the crash.
Triscilla Gail Jefferson, 40, of Culberson was originally expected to live after the drive began early lifesaving efforts on her after the accident. She died days later in the hospital.
Jefferson inexplicably ran across U.S. 64 West toward U.S. 19/129 from the Hot Spot gas station while the traffic light on U.S. 64 was green. The driver, who is a registered nurse, immediately stopped, called 911 and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the woman, who went over the hood of her vehicle and hit her windshield hard.
She was flown to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga., after the accident, which happened around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 5, according to N.C. Highway Patrol reports.
The driver was not cited in the wreck, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol, which ruled it an accident.
