Anna Garland

    Anna Jean Mashburn Garland, 65, of Murphy, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018, in Hamilton County, Tenn.
    She was a native of Cheroke County, and daughter of the late James Logan and Lois Gertrude Green Mashburn.
    Anna was a retired cafeteria worker for Ranger Elementary. She was a member of River Valley Baptist Church.
    Anna loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gospel singing.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Mashburn; and sisters, Willia Allen, Elaine Stiles and Eula Mae Roberson.
    She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Thomas Dewey Garland; two sons, Sammy Henry Davis and James Lee Davis, both of Murphy; daughters, Julia Ann Leister of Mineral Bluff, Ga., Selena Garland and Tracy Garland, both of Clayton, Ga.; brothers, Raymond Mashburn, Richard Mashburn, Calvin Mashburn, Glen Mashburn, Tom Mashburn and Steve Mashburn; sisters, Mary Panther, Roberta Hughes and Bonnie Gilliam; grandchildren, Anna Underwood, Rachelle Davis, Brenda Roberts, Julian Davis, Jessica Davis, Kristina Grimaldo, Nadine Davis, Kenzie Leister and Travis Long; two great-grandchildren, Dawson Underwood and Brianna Cordin; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 30,  at River Valley Baptist Church. The Revs. Keith Mashburn and Rex Kilpatrick officiated. Music was provided by Tim Nicholson and Rex Kilpatrick. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Julian Davis, Mitchell Hughes Phillip Hughes, Ernie Cabral, Brandon Cordin and Brayden Mashburn. Honorary pallbearers were Travis Long, Dawson Underwood and Tristan Roberts.
    The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, where the body remained until being placed in the church prior to the service hour.
