Murphy – After nearly a decade, leadership in the Cherokee County Democratic Party is changing.

All three candidates for the Cherokee County Board of Education ran unopposed, with Jeff Tatham and Arnold Mathews getting re-elected, and James “Jaybird” Ellis winning his first election.

Voters made decisions on Election Day in Cherokee County, bringing the turnout to 72.32 percent.

Andrews – The mayor’s son received a traffic ticket after damaging a police car during an alleged improper turn.

Murphy – Two exhibits are featured in the Cherokee County Arts Council’s Cultural Calendar Room at the Murphy Art Center this month.
