Brasstown – IMI Florida Academy, the U.S. subsidiary of Israel’s IMI Academy for Advanced Security and Anti-Terror Training, is bringing a three-day seminar, “Israeli Tactical Training: Prevention, Response, and Recovery,” to the Smoky Mountains region Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11-13, at the Brasstown Community Center.
The academy trains civilians and law enforcement throughout the United States.
The seminar will be led by Haim Geri, an Israeli and U.S. citizen with decades of experience in fighting terrorism. Geri served as an officer in the Israeli Defense Forces, an air marshal for El Al Airlines and in the Israel General Security Service, providing security for Israeli embassies and assets worldwide. He is director of academic and professional development and senior firearms instructor in the Florida and Israeli Academies, respectively.
From 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, Geri will give an informative presentation at the Brasstown Community Center on “The Israeli Security Concept – Lessons Learned,” which is free of charge and open to the general public. His presentation explains how Israel has learned how to provide security to its citizens while continually adapting to various threats.
Anyone with an interest in security and public safety will benefit from attending. Light refreshments will be served.
In the three-day seminar, participants will gain insight into how the Israelis have been so successful in preventing both large-scale and individual terror attacks, learn and practice Israeli response tactics used to stop active threats, and understand the need to survive and recover from such attacks.
Tactical shooting practice will take place at a nearby private range. Breakfast snacks and light lunches are included every day.
Seminar graduates will receive certificates from Israel’s IMI Academy.
Seminar capacity is 16 students. Call Dr. George Gaines at 404-918-7098 for questions and registration, or email george@imifloridaacademy.com.
Gaines, a resident of Murphy, serves as director of open enrollment for the academy.
