Suspects sought in surge of break-ins
Hiwassee Dam – Sheriff’s deputies are seeking three suspects who may be involved with a rash of break-ins on the western side of Cherokee County.
The sheriff’s office has published wanted posters on its Facebook page seeking Sue Runion and Hubert Lawrence, who have active warrants for their arrest in break-in larcenies in the Hiwassee Dam area.
Sheriff Derrick Palmer said deputies spotted the two leaving a house recently, but the pair fled on foot and managed to elude capture. However, the deputies impounded their vehicle and returned stolen property to the homeowner.
Palmer said there have been “two to three break-ins a day for the last couple of weeks.” He added that after a mostly below average number of breaking and entering cases this year countywide, there were 43 in October alone.
Jeremy Golden also is wanted as a person of interest in breaking and enterings that occurred in the Johnsonville Road/Wolf Creek area. Golden was spotted in Polk County, Tenn., earlier this week, where he was involved in a car chase with police, but he also eluded capture.
The sheriff’s office asks that anyone with information please call 835-3144 or 837-2589, or 911 in case of an emergency.
