July 4 parade calls for participants
Murphy – The committee for the Town of Murphy Patriotic Fourth of July Parade calls veterans, horses, fancy vehicle owners and anyone else eager to march to participate in this year’s event.
Those taking part in the parade will gather at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, in the L&N Depot’s parking lot on Hiawassee Street. The parade will kick off at 2 p.m., making its way through downtown and ending at Konehete Park.
The focal point of the parade will honor veterans of all ages. Six flags will be proudly displayed, including all branches of the U.S. military and the U.S. flag. The parade committee welcome all veterans, whether a part of a local veterans organization or not, to walk behind their branch’s flag.
Entries in the parade will be lined up in order of their arrival at the depot. The town requires no entry fee, but people must fill out a registration form either online at townofmurphy.com or at Town Hall. All forms must be turned in by Sunday.
People who are interested in participating in the parade can call Jim Seals at 557-4248 or email him at email@example.com. People also can contact the Town of Murphy at 837-2510.
