Deputies: Franklin 5 arrested with meth

Peachtree – Five visitors from Franklin were arrested Saturday night after deputies allegedly found 20 grams of methamphetamine in their vehicle.
Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies were doing a checking station at N.C. 141 and Upper Peachtree Road when a car containing three woman and two men, all with Franklin addresses, happened by. The driver – Brandon Lee Mills, 24, of Franklin – had no operator’s license, which began the group’s slide down a slippery slope.
Deputies allegedly spotted a clear container right away containing needles, prompting them to ask more questions to the group. A further search allegedly uncovered more than 20 grams of meth.
“That is well past user-level amounts,” Lt. Joe Wood said.
As the others were searched and questioned, one of the passengers – Kathy Fae Nicole Atcheson, 23, of Franklin – was holding a small bag. When deputies asked her what it was, she claimed it was a colostomy bag, Wood said.
Deputies inspected it and allegedly determined it was actually a bag containing a quantity of meth and was not for any medical purpose. As a result, Atcheson was arrested on a charge of resisting a public officer along with possession of paraphernalia and possession of schedule II with intent to distribute.
Mills was arrested on the same two possession charges along with a simple possession of marijuana up to a half-ounce and driving without an operator’s license. The other three passengers – Mimi Rea Ciarrocchi, 27; Kayley Elizabeth Crisp, 23; and Michael Adam Crisp, 25 – were arrested on possession with intent to distribute and possession of paraphernalia.
The group’s first court date in Cherokee County is scheduled for Tuesday, July 10.
