The March 7 edition of the Cherokee Scout is out ... Woman victim of rare Andrews murder, Schools have big choices ahead, Therapy dog seeks a pal and more
Andrews – An ex-convict allegedly shot a woman acquaintance to death Sunday evening after an argument at his home in Happy Top.
James Donald Taylor II – also known as “Tank” – was arrested on a charge of unspecified murder, marking the first actual murder charge levied in Cherokee County in almost two years.
The victim was 29-year-old county resident Kayla Rene Mathieu. Kayla’s mother, Michelle Mathieu of Blairsville, Ga., wrote Friday about her father’s memorial service, only to suffer another family tragedy just two days later.
“I can’t believe you are gone! I love you so much and miss you so much it hurts! My beautiful Kayla Rene Mathieu I will forever miss your beautiful smile that could always light up a room,” Michelle wrote on Facebook on Monday night.
She added several angry posts aimed at Taylor, who she said “deserves the death penalty.”
“You are the devil you took a gun and shot my beautiful daughter you will pay. … Trust and believe I will be at every court date,” she added.
