Murphy – What does Murphy have in common with Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York, Miami and Washington, D.C.?
If everything goes to plan, Murphy will join these cities and others around the world that have Gordon Ramsay-branded restaurants.
Multi-Michelin-starred chef Ramsay is planning to open a Ramsay’s Kitchen, the first in North Carolina, at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy this spring.
It’s a pretty big deal for Murphy as well as for Ramsey, who one British tabloid reported includes among “his ambitious goals” for the new year.
The Mirror, one of Great Britain’s largest newspapers, published a cheery feature on Ramsay beneath a photo of eight members of the Ramsay family wearing matching pajamas and the chummy headline, “Gordon Ramsay shares festive family photo as he gives update on famous Olympian son-in-law.”
“In 2025, Gordon has shared a long list of aspirations he has for the new year to continue to grow his massive entertainment and restaurant empires. Among some of his ambitious goals are opening a new Ramsay’s Kitchen restaurant in Murphy, North Carolina, starring a brand new season of his Fox show Kitchen Nightmares, and opening five culinary experiences for fans in a London office building.
“This comes as he is already the proud owner of around 90 restaurants worldwide, including 25 different chains. Gordon’s eateries are scattered all over the world with locations in the United Kingdom, United States, France, Asia (China, Singapore, Malaysia, and Macau), and in the Middle East (United Arab Emirates and Qatar).”
Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel announced the plans in October.
“We have seen much success with our food hall over at Harrah’s Cherokee, so we thought we’d bring another option to guests of the region with my long-time partners at Caesars Entertainment,” Ramsay said. “I love to customize menus inspired by my travels, but with local influence, and I’m excited to bring that to Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River guests next year.”
According to a release from Harrah’s, Ramsey’s Kitchen is inspired by Ramsay’s travels abroad.
“The Ramsay’s Kitchen concept will treat guests to a comprehensive culinary journey,” according to the release. “Menu offerings include beloved dishes like the legendary Beef Wellington, delectable Pan-seared Scallops, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Chef’s Signature Sticky Toffee Pudding.
“Each dish at Ramsay’s Kitchen will reflect Ramsay’s passion for quality ingredients and culinary excellence, ensuring a memorable dining experience that transports guests around the globe, one bite at a time.”
The restaurant’s debut comes at the same time as a $275 million expansion project at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River that includes a new hotel tower and expanded casino floor space. Ramsay’s Kitchen will be on the Valley Tower’s 12th floor and features a “breathtaking backdrop” of Nantahala National Forest.
The restaurant will accommodate more than 190 guests in a 12,000-square-foot layout featuring both indoor seating and an outdoor rooftop terrace. It will include a 19-seat bar and an extensive wine cellar, along with a private dining area for more intimate gatherings. An open exhibition kitchen allows diners to watch meal preparation.
The venue designed by JCJ Architectures will have “a playful mix of colors (and) is complemented by sleek, modern furnishings that offer both comfort and style. Woven-patterned paneling adds texture and visual interest to the space, while the striking mosaic tile floors provide a unique foundation that ties the design elements together.”
