Many people do not know where to find reputable information about available resources, while others do not have internet access in order to search.

With that in mind, the Mountain Projects prevention team, known as Mountain Strong, has partnered with the Cherokee Scout and Clay County Progress, to provide resource information to local residents.

From 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 19, a drive-through resource fair will be held at Marble Springs Baptist Church off U.S. 19 in Marble. Residents may drive through and receive bags filled with resources, such as insurance options, kids’ activities, tips for families and more.

In addition, resource packets will be given Saturday, July 10, at Matt’s Ministry in Hayesville. These are the regular food pantry times for Clay County residents in need of food, but free resources will be available for everyone.

All local and regional agencies, faith-based groups, churches, youth-serving organizations, as well as those serving senior citizens, are invited to provide information for the resource fair. Whether it is vacation Bible school flyers, coupons, booklets, food distribution information, pencils or hand sanitizers, any agency or business with something to offer the community is welcome to provide information and attend. Donations of bags are welcome, especially reusable bags.

There will be limited space for groups who would like to set up tables at the Cherokee County event. Children’s games, recipe distribution and other creative ideas are encouraged. A table with Spanish resources is also planned for the Cherokee County event.

Please provide 150 English flyers and 50 Spanish for the Cherokee County event. For Clay County, 100 English flyers and 15 Spanish flyers are needed. Donations of other giveaways are encouraged.

Details will be announced as it is available. Any group who wants to participate in some capacity may email lross@mountainprojects.org or call 828-226-3048.
