Murphy Medical Center will become part of Erlanger Health System on April 1.

The January 31 edition of the Cherokee Scout is out ... Hospital merger approved, Woman and child mourned by community and more

Peachtree – Murphy Medical Center likely will disappear into history on April 1, as the local hospital and Erlanger Hospital boards have voted to transfer ownership to Erlanger Health System.
The boards of the Town of Murphy Hospital Authority, Southwestern Health System and Murphy Medical Center voted unanimously on Jan. 23 to approve a resolution for a change of control agreement. Erlanger’s board approved the resolution and signed it Thursday evening.
Bob Wilson, attorney for Murphy Medical, addressed the board remotely, saying there have been discussions and studies of Erlanger’s ability to meet the community’s health-care needs.
“It is the board’s expectation that the change of control agreement will meet the needs of medically underserved and low-income persons,” he said.
