Murphy – The Bulldogs had a close loss to Andrews to start the week, but they were road warriors the rest of the time with wins at Highlands and Cherokee.
Winston-Salem – Murphy was the only Cherokee County school with athletes in the N.C.
Andrews – Joshua Hernandez, a senior at Andrews High School, was named the Smoky Mountain Conference Soccer Player of the Year.
Murphy – The Bulldogs boys basketball team dropped two road games last week, as they first fell to Robbinsville 68-53 and then to Swain 51-44.
