Rosa “Rosie” Oleta Tipton passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital in Murphy.
She was the daughter of the late Sidney and Tilda Stanley Cochran.
Rosie was a homemaker and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She had a “green thumb” and really enjoyed her gardening. Rosie also enjoyed cooking and canning.
She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Reid Tipton in 1987; five brothers, Aldon, Everett, Winford, Eugene and Cletis Cochran; and three sisters, Bertie Cochran, Bunice Sorrow and Orlean Fox.
She is survived by three sons, Ronnie Tipton and wife Judy of Murphy, Earl Tipton and wife Dorothy of Copperhill, Tenn., and Roy Tipton and wife Cheryl of Blue Ridge, Ga.; three daughters, Geraldine Sneed and husband Danny, and Geneva Rogers and husband Jim, all of Murphy; and Amy Allen and husband Josh of Leesville, S.C.; two brothers, Milford Cochran of St. Augustine, Fla., and Bill Cochran of Blue Ridge, Ga.; one sister, Wylene Patterson of Mineral Bluff, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Chris Rumfelt and Brother Jeremy Tipton officiated. Burial was in the Stockhill Family Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Ga. Pallbearers were grandsons.
The family received friends from 4-6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
