Resident artistic director Laurel Adams has begun rehearsals for this summer’s romp of the comedy Leading Ladies, which will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Peacock Performing Arts Center in Hayesville. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Seating is reserved and tickets are on sale – $20 for adults, $9 for students, with group discounts available. “Stories on the Square,” sponsored by the N.C. Storytelling Guild and Mountain Area Storytellers, will will have open mic night from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday at the Corner Coffee and Wine Shop, 66 Church St. in Hayesville. John C. Campbell Folk School and N.C. Writers’ Network – West will sponsor The Literary Hour at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, where network members will read in the community room at Keith House on the folk school campus in Brasstown.
