The December 6 edition of the Cherokee Scout is out ... New leadership in Murphy, Woman accused of hurting baby, Tri-County Community College faces challenges and more

Murphy – Bill Hughes did not hang around for Monday’s town meeting. He just wanted to hold the Bible while his wife, Barbara, was sworn in as a new town council member.
When it was over, the couple shared a brief kiss, and the former mayor got a look from new Mayor Rick Ramsey that seemed to say, “What, no kiss for me?”
“I’ll shake your hand, how’s that?” Hughes said with his familiar smile, and with that the transition was complete.
