    Lorene Horton Cook, 94, of Brasstown, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021.
    Lorene was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Cherokee County to the late Jessie and Dulcie Allen Henton.
    She was a machine operator at Levi’s for over 10 years. Lorene was also a homemaker and had resided off and on for 20 years in Oregon.
    She was a member of Old Fashioned Baptist Church.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Homer Cook; son, Franklin Steve Cook; brother, Carl Horton; and sisters, Ruby Coker and Shirley Stewart.
    She is survived by her daughters, Glenda Clayton and husband Ronald, and JoAnn Henderson; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy. Pastor Hoyt Brown and the Rev. Aud Brown officiated. Burial was in Old Fashioned Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Teddy Cook, A.J. Cook, Terry Stewart, Freddie Cook, Ray Cook and Everett Cook.
    The family received friends from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Old Fashioned Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, 732 Floyd Stalcup Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
