Brasstown – One of the biggest crowds of the year at Tri-County Race Track saw 16 USCS Sprint Cars blast around the super-fast clay oval at speeds approaching 130 mph Saturday.
Terry Gray of Bartell, Tenn., came to the front from his fourth place start to take the lead on lap 20 of the 30-lap feature and earn the $2,000 first-place money. Fellow Bartell driver Anthony Nicholson led the first 20 laps and managed a second place finish.
Murphy’s Jamie Oliver entered the sportsman class and set the fast time, then managed to go green to checker over Galen Robinson, Jason Payne, Kevin Bradshaw and Doug Sneed.
Brian Kinnersley of Blairsville, Ga., led 14 fastrak crate late models to victory. Josh Morrow, Jacob Anderson, Danny Ledford and Jim Bob Davis rounded out the top five.
Kenny Barrett took the modified street feature when early leader Arlan Ledford went out with a flat tire. Greg Sudderth, Brad Thomas, Billy Robinson and Junior Whitener filled the top five spots.
Bobby Norris won the stock street feature for the second week in a row. Stephen Sofield took second and Josh Roberts was credited with third when the two cars in front of him were disqualified.
Adam Creekmore raced to his first feature win in the mini stock main event. Shanon Jones, Ricky Dyer, Paydon Shook and Shane Hughes made it an exciting final race of the night.
Saturday night fans will see all classes racing in the final points event for 2008. The track also has scheduled another fireworks show.
