Mary Corcoran Carroll, 77, of Murphy passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at her residence.
She was a native of Ansonia, Conn., and moved to Sarasota, Fla., in 1971. She lived seasonally in Murphy for many years prior to becoming a permanent resident.
Mary received a bachelor’s degree from Connecticut State Teacher’s College and later obtained a master’s degree from Nova University in Florida. Mary worked with special needs children for Sarasota County Schools for over 30 years.
She was a member of Saint William Catholic Church locally and Church of the Incarnation while in Sarasota.
She enjoyed crafting, antiquing and day trips with her family.
She was the daughter of the late Francis and Catherine Ryan Corcoran, and wife of the late Timothy “Tim” Carroll, who died Jan. 28, 2011. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Corcoran Sr.
Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Brady of Bradenton, Fla.; two sons, Jeffrey Carroll of Williamsburg, Va., and Joseph Carroll of Murphy; and five grandchildren, Taylor Ball, Rebekah Merrill, Natalie Merrill, Michael Carroll and Peter Joseph Carroll.
No local service has been planned.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of arrangements.
